Too right- competition for places makes things stronger. i was continually overlooked (4 times) for the one selection place scotland get in chess competitions because i was from the north east of scotland but i dont regret ANY of it cos by the time my main rival quit 4 years ago, I was strong enough that I won Scottish U20 champs and open champs in 2001 and 2003 cos Id tried to prove myself over the last 6 years.
Nowadays the policy in chess is to send lots of juniors and its good cos lots of kids get the chance to represent their country but they are becoming lazy cos they take it for granted that they get to go to these things. Sometimes rejection is the best thing to happen to a junior in any sport, as long as they take it with the right attitude. You can control performance but not selection.

if you are so unhappy with selections that have changed youre life there is nothing stopping you taking your complaint to the selectors.
you dont need to bring them here.
To Mum. If the selection directly bothered me I would question it myself. I didn't like it, but i can't change it by moaning, so i'm begining to change it the only way i can

back to the results. Top Draw stuff from Rhys, who i think has been overshadowed here. Some cracking performances and hopefully this will be the next stage in a long journey that takes him to lithuania next year.

Great reporting Becky - great result Joy - really enjoyed the O-ringen. think gareth is prob right - not as good as areas as last year - but good fun anyway (was hoping no-one would notice me getting lost on day 5
). Really missed the campsite banter this year - never mind - i reckon next year is going to be mint - all days within walking/cycling distance on event centre - and swimming also. Definitely taking the H. van out for that - so don´t worry G - you gas canister will find it´s way to Sweden
