Rose says....... I kicked mental butt. the forest was proper hardcore a lot of brashing on the ground with ankle twisting loose rock underneath. In very hot conditions the brits produced good results for many debutants on the international stage.
the home nation have done very well taking 6 out of the 8 gold medals. so now have learnt the czech national anthem.
tomorrow for the relays
women
Tessa Hill
Rose Hodkinson
Ruth Holmes
Men
Douglas Toullie
Kylie Minogue
David Scorer -after the disco.
Stef and John are going to both be running first legs to try and beat fellow first leggers. hopefully not such a hot day after the thunder storm going on at the moment.

could the author of this post please identify themselves.....or are they too ashamed of what they had to say?
i would just like to point out that there were a quite few reasons why i really under performed at FCC final but nerves was not one of them

well said, Rose and Stef.
Think every anonymous guest needs a psychological coach to get over their insecurities.
Perhaps posting anonymously is just a cry for help...

Just wanted to say that the weekend at EYOC was brilliant! We got to experience an international competition, and there was something that everyone hadn't experienced before. everything about the organisation was really top quality, people who've done both have said that its the closest thing we'll get to jwoc, and the sprint race and just like a park world tour! we also found out how tough the eastern european forests are, and how good the czechs are!! In my opinion definately one to take a British team to in the future...I learnt a lot that will be helpful in the future (even if it didn't seem too successful to people who weren't there) also probably my most enjoyable o-ing weekend ever!

doug u were amazing in the relays, they just put those two controls too close together!!
i agree with doug and ruth it was such an amazing experience, really showed us how much work we need to put into our orienteering to be as good as the eastern europeans!!!
thanks chris n james!!

My sister had just come home, wow, what f---in maps, they are so colorful, so I can't find where is the real map among those ads. And the terrains are sooo easy, why did czechs choose those easy ones, when they have Jicin area?!
As she said, this year's EYOC was at very low level compared to last year in Salzburg. I don't know ...
And if you don't know - EYOC2006 will be in Slovenia, and EYOC2007 in Hungary

doug having picked up the all control maps for the relay. the control you missed punched on was only 25-30m from you on a similar feature. You were looking for a tree and you missed punched on a bush! Bit unfair, spoke to the controller and made a comment on the closeness but he didn't seemed bothered.
shall scan in to let you see later.

Danailov, watching the website for the results on Saturday, I had a look at the photos of the organisers. Looked like it was "youth" games in terms of lots of young people organising too. Does that reflect the age profile of the sport in Bulgaria, and what do you think makes it so popular with younger people? (if it is)
Even without lots of live controls I really enjoyed following the live results, although I was at work! Glad to hear the GB team had a great time too.

ifititches, sorry for my late answer, but i was on competiton ...
Bulgaria already had it's euro-champion. Antonia Grigorova beat in W18 sprint at EYOC2003. According to me, it doesn't matter who is organising the champ, even it's 18 y.o. boy, or 70 y.o. participant in WOC'66... all I want to see is well-constructed routes, good interesting maps and good organisation. I can't understand your question at all
but I can tell you that in Bulgaria now we have very strong youth orienteering, it's the begining of the new BG era in O. Our federation understands, that if we want to have great runners in the future, they must start to compete at high level as soon as possible. I'll just tell you I got teammate born 1990, who runs with me almost everyday, and in the winter he ran near 400km pr. month...
And about the live results - didn't you find it boring to wait 3 hours until the 1st results from the classic... on the relay there weren't live results at all ...
