Rob - obviously you've never done THIS coast path relay, its one of my favourite weekends of the year, its something different, fun, and usually pretty sunny (allowing for quality beach time imbetween running..) which also raises much needed cash for a squad thats done a lot for me and others..and i'd much rather do it than the peter palmers (never have been a big fan of night o)

Which club is organising it this year?

BAOC will organise the Peter Palmer Relays at Pirbright on 3/4 September.
Details and online entry will shortly be available via the BAOC web site. With the summer holidays approaching please plans your teams soon!

It seems an incredible shame that this announcement was not made public in time for it to be publicised at the JIRCs this weekend - when a lot of the youngsters and a great deal of team movers and shakers were there together and could have had some preliminary discussions - Lets hope they can piggy back it onto people checking out the results to get it into the public eye before everyone disperses for the summer.

In an email to the Junior Competitions Group and the regional squad managers earlier this morning, Hilary Palmer sent out confirmation of the PP relay happening, being organised by BAOC. She had not received the email until after it was too late to publicise at the JIRC, hence no announcement was made there. Given that an email was sent to JCG regional reps and squad managers, details should hopefully be out with clubs and regions shortly.

SEOA has been trying really hard to find a venue for the Peter Palmer Relays and now BAOC has offered to stage it. I think that this is the nth possible venue. Perhaps some people do not realise how difficult it is for clubs/regions to find an accommodation venue which will agree to hoardes of juniors sleeping on the floor and which also has facilities for the football competition as well as being in walking distance of an orienteering area?

Clubs should receive this latest information many times over because it has been circulated via JCG, Regional Junior Squad managers, RDOs and is now being discussed here!

Thanks for getting the information out as soon as you could Hilary. I have already recieved an email from regional junior squad manager as well as seeing this, so as you say word should get round quickly.

I know it has been difficult getting a venue for this so would like to thank all those involved in trying to find one.

Now its up to the juniors to make their efforts worthwhile by getting teams together and entries in, so it doesn't get cancelled like a couple of years ago.
