so the much hyped third album from Coldplay was released this week, what do people think? better than the others? I must say I love it, I wouldnt say its musically much better than Parachutes and A Rush Of Blood...but its certainly one of the best albums in a long time. a classic.
your opinons please

Slightly biased as I went to school with the guitarist (well, his big brother, anyway), so I had to buy it, and I'm dragging Stodge to Bolton next month to see them.
It's growing on me (Stodge's comment was "it sounds like Coldplay"
), best turned up very loud.
BTW has anybody in London come across big brothers latest band "At The Lake" anywhere?

What about a haven't heard it all yet category?

im with dover.
parachutes was a pretty great album, albeit a bit tame and made by rich boy stoodents with nuthin better to do, but it was good. i saw them on that tour and they were ace.
then the second one came and boy they couldnt have stuck to the travis formula more if they tried eh? lets put out a decent debut, full of promise, let the kids fall in love with us, then crush them by releasing a second album of sub-david gray turgid pish that will get us played at dinner parties alongside dildo and fookin groove armada and make loadsamoney. then we can become bloated celebrity whores, champion some causes ad nauseam, then stop. then repeat.
dull.

aye and they were all noping yellow indeed.
<rant>
what pisses me off most about coldplay is that the only reason they are so huge today is that it was arguably their worst song, the aforementioned yellow, that got them there thanks purely to radio 1 deciding to A list it and thus force it onto the nation at least once an hour every day for months.
if they'd got there with a decent song i dont think id be quite so bitter - their first proper release brothers & sisters was infinately superior to yellow, and the blue room ep is probably the best release they've ever done.</rant>

yeah, but many songs are radio 1 a-listed. I think trouble made thes bothering the charts and in my place made them what they are now - with a little help from scientist and clocks
I admit that yellow isn't the greatest lyrical song, but it always cheers me up.
I agree with samsonites point about not changing for ROBTTH but X&Y is a different album, not very different but is has moved on. Sometimes i wondered whether warning sign was or parachutes or RROBTTH but i don't think ill mix any from X&Y up with it.
But it makes you wonder whether if this was coldplays debut album whether it would sell 150,000 copies on the first day (It, I Think, will be the fastest selling album of all time, and one of the biggest selling in the UK)
