The web address given earlier is just for the Athletics Union site. Shuoc's actual website is http://www.shef.ac.uk/~shuoc It is in the middle of being updated but we are doing our best. Take a look if you want.
As for other sports, they tend to have a page on the athletics union site, but will also have there own site.

I chose Newcastle University for my first degree (Marine Biology, 1989 - 92, although I didn't specialise until the 2nd year, so I would also say that ability to change / modify degree choice is important) mainly due to its location, near mountains and sea. I didn't orienteer then, but was able to walk in hills throughout northern England and as far north as the Cairngorms on weekend trips, nordic skiing whenever & wherever there was enough snow (Town Moor, Pennines, Cairngorms, Norway etc). Unfortunately, the best Environmental Technology MSc was in London, but I did manage to spend the last 5 months in Northern Ireland, carrying out my research project. The taught part of the course was so intense that there wasn't much time for sports / activities.

I know that Sheffield uni and hallam have very good links with the sheffield tri club and there are a number of very active members at sheff hallam. Location also provides great access into the peak district. check out the website for further info http://www.shef.ac.uk/stc/

At Newcastle, the sports union handbook will actually say;
Sports Union Socieites Officer: A. Guest (Anne Guest to be more precise ... )

Loughborough has a great triathlon scene because the national triathlon association are based here - as are british cycling. It probably has one of the best British swim teams too.
But....
Loughborough can be a little bit elitist because there are so many good people - I don't know what standard you are at but I found that the athletics club ran at a level that I was just about able for. I am sure the level of swimming, cycling and triathlon will be similar. That said if you want to improve there is nothing like training at your limit with better people. When it comes down to for any mainstream sport Loughborough is worth considering.

Being a welsh girl you should consider UWIC of course http://www.uwic.ac.uk/sport/ although no o-ing there or at nearby Cardiff Uni anymore. I know there are triathletes there though.

Well if we are going to post swedish uni clubs... Chalmers university of technology with the orienteering club is the best uni club in Scandinavian and around Gothenburg is several good orienteering areas and triathletes clubs. Sometimes you even have to fight to not to be beaten by simone on the intervals...
