especially when he took that rediculous over the hill route that was no way quicker possibly on his own and took about a minutes out of the others.
It was quite funny when everyone had set out on long night coz the commentators had nothing much to say, so the cheesy pop came out...

yep - 8th leg runner (Haugen)
apparently they made the schoolboy error of picking up the wrong map at the exchange area. Although saying that, on such a large scale relay with that many runners it's quite incredible that more teams don't mispunch/get disqualified. Good job the BUSA teams weren't there

btw, that route choice mharky mentions from the long night can be seen here

how shoulw the number of runners/teams make any difference to getting DSQ. if you get DSQ for mispunching or wrong map then you have been stupid. The codes where printed next to the circles on the map, so any mispunching would have been really stupid. And at the map exchange it has a big number on it, you take the one which has your big number on it, the same on you bib, the same your next runner shouts at you. you check, he checks. simple.
I have taken the wrong map before, and i tried to attibute it to the fact that they were placed confusingly... maybe that was just to protect my own self-esteem. All you have to do is spend a split second and check. I guess you never do it more than once...

my mate said that kristiansand didn't pick up the wrong map. That another team, and he knew who the runner was but wanted to remain anonymous, picked up kristiansand's map, so when kristiansands runner came in they gave the next runner the next again legs map

That's pretty harsh if it's right. I never thought of that, if another team picks up your map, and runs with it, you're team is proably screwed and it's not your fault.

surely then it's not Kristiansand's fault? - a bit harsh for them to be DQ'd if their map isn't there

If the correct map isn't in place when you arrive for the exchange you are supposed to tell an event official and then they will go get a new map for you. It might take a few minutes but you will avoid getting disqualified.

That's just wrong and not in the spirit. Seems like the only way SNO might not have one is if Halden had deliberately made a mistake to ensure that it was more than a 2 horse race...
There are tactics, and then there's blatant cheating...

the argument on alternativet - swedish, so completely unbiased in this debate
- goes along the lines of saying that the race was held under swedish rather than international rules, and swedish rules permit following in "joint start" races, where iof do not.
fact of the matter is sno just played the rules to their advantage.
had tore run down the right finish chute then the right team would have won and would we be having this debate?
