Apparently halden were getting very wound up by sodertalje just running behind them for a long time. Stressed changeovers with people having problems with jackets/headtorch straps contrasted with previous years when they have stopped and had a chat over the map board. tore alledgedly slowed down, sped up, even stopped but losman just stayed 2 steps behind as if he had been instructed on no account to try to navigate. i am told that tore put in a massive spurt towards the end but still couldn't shake petr who punched the last control in one fluid motion without breaking stride and ran in the correct finish lane whilst tore chose the wrong lane and then burst through and over all the tapes. afterwards he apprently called the whole thing a joke. meanwhile jens molin was jumping for joy that he had changed from hellas to SNO (and not to Ravinen! - who got their best result for a while to finish 7th)
one comment on alternativet.. "if sandvik had stopped for a s*** in the forest, losman would have wiped his a**/* to get faster to the finish" !!!
hmmmm anyway whatever they said SNO chose the team to fit this year's leg structure, with the ungaffled last. it's fair tactics, they couldn't beat halden any other way and well done to them.
they played by the rules, we knew that Losman would be told to sit on Tore no matter what. But it was really taking the piss watching him sit, and do nothing. If the swedes want to win like that, let them have it......
Those night orienteers are at the top of my list of respect. Especially nocturnal nordberg. I can't believe how skilled they are to run at full speed through the night and not miss much...
