yeah, and i asked a pretty fair question - who's been on the end of a good hard dobbing then? and none of the 'toffs' replied.

I get where your coming from now, didn't read that whole thread as couldn't be arsed, so in the context in which it is put, I would say Lobban is on track, but in a different atmosphere/ environment (i.e. OXFOOOOOORD)so I think it is like the wegies would say "I'm going to burst ya" relating to I'm going to punch you so hard in the nose that it will burst you nose and make it bleed, however, down south, in the oh so frightfully lovely darling of a town oxford it means "I'm going to give you a dobbing" relating to I'm going to tap you on the nose and make it drible with a little tuch of Clarret for which you may have to dobb with a hankerchief to stop it dripping on the cream carpet!

I thought dobbing was something to do with dropping the soap in the oxford showers (its ok this is well past the watershed
)

....and even more amazingly - it doesn't appear in the Viz Profanisaurus - so it can't be a real rude word at all - how disappointing - on the other hand perhaps this is our chance to make up a real rude word all of our own
