Tragic news about the death of Bekele's fiancée.
Obviously, you can totally understand his withdrawal in the circumstances.

But his withdrawal robs Rocky of a no doubt famous victory in a personal duel, come Saturday and "Fat Brendan's Elite Fun Run" (as I have just heard the event described).

cheers for the support guys, here's some more info for you...

guys long race starts at 1:25 pm. 6x1.5km laps with some extra bits for start and finish. the course is mostly flat, short grass. there are a couple of 1m embankments which will hurt on the 6th lap! theres not quite such a big hill as the course the europeans were held on last year, its a much shorter sharper affair, followed by a steep descent towards St Margarets Loch - lose control and you'll get a bit wet! got to hope they get the swans out of the way as well, they were slap bang in the middle of the track yesterday!

i'm really looking forward to it, its going to be a great experience. i'm feeling pretty good, resting up today then going to do a very short sharp session tomorrow, but even so, i know i'll be nowhere near the front, and i have no intentions of going off too fast, just to get on tv!

its a six lap affair so...
laps 1&2 run with your head
laps 3&4 run with your legs
laps 5&6 run with your heart!

thats the plan anyway! would be great to see anyone who's in the area down there cheering, else i know you'll all be watching on the ole bbc!

aye, that one depends on the weather, but if its minging weather it might be even more worthwhile coming down to watch the mud swimming antics. Given what it was looking like yesterday and having 6 or so other races ploughing it up for you its going to be dirty dirty fun

my landlord/flatmate Jethro just got a last minute call up so maybe you will see him there. he will be the one with minging saliva froth all down his face. he says he will do rubbish but we'll see. good attitude anyway fleur is going to watch so i'll ask her to give you a cheer from me, you'll be the one on the leader's shoulder right?

he was just on shot about to get lapped as they sprinted for the line, navy top & shorts.

also spotted were mr & mrs kitch and a host of haries.

Yes, Yes, we saw him then - didn't like to point out the circumstances - he must have done pretty well to be within a lap of them - they'd already passed loads of people (almost all wearing red). the much fancied Aussie blew up big time - would be nice to see some full results if anyone knows where to find them - those Africans were really motoring. we've got it on video as Mr h. said he had to go to work - but in the end he stayed and watched it any way. Well done rocky - tell us about it.
