I believe that it was a German Afrika Corps uniform, so I guess there's some "colonial" connection. Germany was the colonial power in Tanganyika (now Tanzania) and South West Africa (now Namibia. Does seem an unwise choice of costume by someone aiming to train as a British army officer. (I'm speaking as someone who held the Queen's Commission for 4 years, although never went to Sandhurst)

LONDON (Reuters) - A leading Jewish rights group has Prince Harry go to Auschwitz to atone for wearing a Nazi uniform at a party just two weeks before the 60th anniversary of the death camp's liberation.


The 20-year-old has apologised for wearing a swastika armband and an army shirt with Nazi regalia at a costume party on Saturday, but rights groups and politicians said he should do more.

Poor old Harry - given the theme of the party "Colonial and Native" he was sure to offend someone - imagine the uproar if he'd gone as a zulu warrior I don't think he's too fussed - I think he enjoys the bad boy thing

Not really to do with Prince Harry but the area being used for the GB Test Races in June was the site of around 200 Jews being killed during the war. There is no memorial or anything..... sad thing is that comments are that not enough were killed to warrent a memorial.....
