In the interest of posting something controversial, should BOF join the AAA?
I know there are a number of elite athletes who would benefit from the reduced entry fees this would bring. Would it be worth the increased membership fee to everyone else?

I think that this is a sacred cow - BOF exists because Brasher et al deliberately sought to keep the administration of the sport away from AAA. I've seen it argued that it was one of the best things they did (but probably not on Nopesport
)

The WIM Chairman (Peter Brett) wrote something concerning this idea in WAFFLE (the WIM club magazine), but sadly the piece does not appear to be online. It made some interesting points concerning the age groups reflected in the two sports, how they complement each other and how that could be used to the benefit of both groups.
How much would it increase membership fees by?

AAA is English so that's a problem for a start - the British body is UK Athletics.
Scottish Athletics charge £15 per senior for a years membership, £2 per race levy for non-members and are currently having an ugly fight with Scottish Hill Runners.
There is lots to be gained from links with running clubs but is probably best done at a local level.
Orienteering should stay independent.

dunno about the 1960's version, but 1990's version existed on newsgroups such as rec.orienteering/rec.sport.orienteering. there's an archive found at the foot of this page. if you are into that sort of thing.
i've seen some stuff from gross & godders on there before, any other former newsgroup folks here on nopesport?
