Once heard this, it may be attributable to J.K. himself but if so which control would you remove from this course...

Would be fun analysing the splits on this course...
A course can usualy be improved by removing a control...

Wasn't this some kind of world record for the most controls on an orienteering course? I think I read it somewhere. I would have liked to try it, but as I forget which controls I have been to when doing 10 or 12 I would have been very confused.

Welcome to the land of control picks
the site points out that at the spectator control you've done 109, with another 11 controls after the spectator control within 1km. I wonder how the long th whole course was, and whether there was any route choice

This sounds like fun.
A club in Norway is organizing a "world record" attempt for the most controls found on an O' course.
Thierry Gueorgiou holds the current record at 115 controls on a course.
The Norwegian club is setting a course of 11-13 kilometers. The race takes place this weekend. I'm not sure how many controls they'll have, but you got to figure they'll have a good 120 or so. Runners completing the course get a certificate.
As of today, 22 runners are entered and Norwegian TV is sending a reporter.
You can read about it (if you can read Norwegian) at Larvik OK's web page.

to clarify the reference to Thierry...
as part of terro's rigorous training regime he has been known to calculate his orienteering percentage by running a course of around 100 controls and counting how many he spiked. legs were typically 100-200m and the whole thing took around 2 hours.
a few british runners have emulated this in preparations for woc - was it featured in compasssport?

It was the Larvik world record attermpt.
The thing that gets me, is that they are so lucky to get an area that can sustain such a course. Thats Norway for you..
I wonder what the control description sheet was like?

This has really gone too far. Last night I dreamt I was given a map for a course planned by Chrisecurtis (who I don't think I've ever met) with about 30 short control pick legs and a couple of long ones, while Bendover complained this was a training exercise and not good value for money. Meanwhile I'd forgotten my O shoes so Drew and Pyrat lent me a shoe each as they were size 4. (I'm size 5.5).
I love my brain. I need to get out more.

You are forgetting the most important thing. How the C**P are you supposed to put out 100 controls for a TRAINING session. I feel sorry for the control hangers.
hehe
hehe
Now, I know you're a feminist, and I think that's adorable, but this is grown-up time and I'm the man.
