Gumbie eh? in Birmingham he was unceremoniously dubbed the "Tartan Trotter". I have some pictures of him with the flag at home;if I can work out how to I'll scan one into the gallery. (Any hints on how to do this?)

Thank you Ewan -= you've put in a nut shell what i've been trying to get over to people for years ( i even said it my last editorial i think).
Amusingly - my mole at the recent major events course told me that robin field was preaching to everyone the importance of "sexing up" events with extra attractions
ha ha ha. I wonder where he got that idea from

Many's the 'fights' at BUSF over various flags..... some stories to be told there but wouldn't want to get an earful from Becks so I'll keep quiet:)
keep them for the 40th, they'll go down a treat there no doubt.

It is quite flattering to be the subject of such an illustrious forum, even though it is 30 years after the fact.
I would prefer no one post a picture of me and the flag from BUOC days and my sons might catch a glimpse of my trendy hairstyle.
Unfortunately cannot make the 40th celebration inperson but our thoughts will be there (if Gross goes maybe he can toss a roll in our memory -I rmeber Commb's catch from an earlier, much earlier celebration.

- Gumbie Again
If anyone has a picture of that sort at the pm it to me or preferably post it on the forum. Don't listen to Gumbie, he's a wimp, and at the othe side of the atlantic.

fear not "Gumbie", although I have said photo it will require major archeological excavation through photo drawer to find it. (or not, depending on what I am bid for it!) It did surface for the BUOC reunion in 2000 (since you didn't) but does not have place of honour on mantelpiece, even though it was your party which threw me together with Mr Ifititches.
Was at an orienteering party a few weeks ago at which another ex BU X-country team member was asking after you.
How's the weather?
Hope you noticed that I called you a "legend"(at least, I think I did)
