Yeh it was well good and the return of the white rabbit was legendary. Especially that it decked Bowen and shoved his face in the ground (a bit harsh) and scratched his forehead. Thatll learn him. Why is there a white rabbit anyway? does it have any significance?

this is why for some reason james lyne has gained a minute on us on the next leg andy. I wonder how randomly that split was inserted. The fact no box was there was because the planner couldn't find the control when he went to the put the box on it in the morning. The control to me says - BINGO

the reason for the white rabbit is buried deep within the intertwined histories of the peter palmer relays and it's forefather the ungdoms tiomila. once upon a time the was no white rabbit, then later, out of the murky depths of the sutton park gorse, a white rabbit appeared. some say it had been wandering the globe without gainful employment all summer since ungdoms tio mila and finally cheerfully happened upon this small but worthy event in an unlikely arena, sutton colefield.
others say it was blatant plagiarism on glynn roberts part. the one at kids tio was classier anyway, it had a bike and everything.

Like many things at the PPR, it probably comes from the 'original', the Junior Tio Mila. When YHOA and WMOA ran teams there in 1992, which was when Glyn Roberts first got the idea of running something similar over here, the field was led out of the start field by a white rabbit, who, I think I remember rightly, was a leading Swedish international of the time. Quite a sight: thunderflash start 'gun', and 200+ plus sets of headlamps thundering off the start line in pursuit of a white rabbit.

or yeah, what he said.
they also played the X flies theme tune. i remember being very scared. and i was on last leg so wasn't even to be running into the dark forest.
i think they should introduce another classic ungdoms tiomila moment. whole teams singing along with chris hodkinson playing god save the queen on his recorder in the hours before the start.

DECKING BOWEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to take this opportunity to defend my spotless record of impeccable behaviour during all public engagements.
I was attacked, (in an attempted rugby tackle) and in my defence, all I did was wrestle the assailant to the ground and lie on him, my apologies if he has to go to school / college tomorrow and answer the question "how did you get that scratch?" with "I got flattened and squashed by a 13 stone rabbit” but we rabbits have to defend ourselves these days, the worrying rise in daylight assaults on rabbits leaves few alternatives, we have to make a living and at the afore mentioned weight, you have to buy in a lot of carrots.
Hope you liked it though, you wouldn’t believe how warm I was!
the rabbit stikes again

Great event today. I'd echo Helen's congratulations to COBOC for a brilliant effort.
Helen - ironic your headlamp going. I spent sometime explaining to our lead off runners why they should carry a spare Petzl in a bumbag 'just in case' in spite of being assured by several people that it'll never happen. Sorry that it happened to you. BTW - you really must tell SW regional squad again that next years' PPR is more important than some coast path race. What do your club coaches think? I can't believe they'd agree with it.
Obviously dead chuffed for the Aire A team. However, one of the highlights of the race for me is how much our second team lead off runners enjoyed the night/early morning orienteering: all three came back raving about their first time experiences in the dark/gloom. What a fabulous night/morning - thank goodness the forecast didn't come true.

so who was the rabbit then...?
i'd guess at Roberts but 13 stone.. underestimation? Wink
Im not sure if thats an insult or a compliment? I've been compaired to some things in my time but.... well

It seems as if the true Identity of the white rabbit will just have to become shrouded in the mist's of time, like Mellons sugested.
and at 13 stone, Im off for some lettuice.
White Rabbit.

Went to take a look later on, after several long stints reported looking for it. I have to say, I disagree with you Rob, but only to the effect it didn't say bingo, it positively shouted from the rooftops. Nothing in the area properly matched the map, vegetation was much thicker round it than indicated, and the control could not be approached satisfactorily from the only reasonably viable attack point. Should have been left out IMHO.
