It seems that SN are putting on an event on the 2nd of January...

WHY???????

That means no drinking on new years :(
Now, I know you're a feminist, and I think that's adorable, but this is grown-up time and I'm the man.

what makes you say that? and obviously no one ever drinks at busa on the saturday night!

It's been proven that drinking the day before a race (even for a whole week) does not hamper performance - for proof see uncle dickie at the 6 days last year.

Hmm. By my rough calculations, an event on the 2nd gives you a whole day to recover after Hogmanay.

If you don't need a whle day to get over the hangover, there is a Score Event on New Year's day at Ashridge (SP/970131) ... which is kind of on the way to the National Event from most places in the UK.

I assume the NE is at Ash Ranges - it is in use by the army for almost the whole year - closed to them (and therefore useable for NE) only for a short period over the new year. (The last NE at Ash Ranges was alos on January 2nd!)

It was... And I only got about 1km before a knee injury clobbered me. Quite a good area IIRC
