I placed an order for a thumb compass with Compass Point on Sunday but had heard nothing come Wednesday. I contacted them over facebook and did get a reply that they would 'check it out later tonight', seehttps://bit.ly/2ZGUo41, but nothing has happened since then.
I requested cancellation of the order and a refund yesterday but have heard nothing since then. I'll be getting paypal and my credit card company involved today if I've still not heard anything.
I also tried to phone just now but there was no answer.
So based on my experience I'd say that compass point are best avoided.

As an update to this I have now been refunded but only after escalating the case to eBay.

Compass Point is a small business which does a great service to orienteering by providing kit and food at events across the country as well as offering an online sales. Hopefully they've had a flurry of orders after the announcement last week that orienteering is due to restart - we sent 3 orders ourselves this week.
I hope others show a bit more patience and understanding than jhob and continue to support Compass Point to ensure that they're still around when larger events restart.

Re: Compass Point
Is one of the problems that when an order is placed you do not receive a email saying your order has been processed? Last year I purchased a pair of shoes online from CompassPoint that did not arrive. I concluded that my order had not been processed (having checked my in box). I then waited until the next major event and purchased some shoes direct. Only then for the original order to arrive in the post weeks after the original order had been placed - with no explanation. I then decided it was wise to wait until the following major event to return them.
I also notice competition appearing on the horizon as dobbed orienteering shoes by VJ and Nii area available from Kong running in Keswick, with Icebug soon to be in store I believe.

We received emails confirming the order, but I assumed they were automated. Haven't taken delivery yet, but its only a few days and not urgent so we haven't been in touch.

Re: Compass Point
It was the first time that I'd ordered from them and just felt that I was left in an information vacuum and then didn't get a response when promised, which have me the jitters. Any sort of reassuring response would have put my mind at rest, but having read others concerns here I got worried. It was not a good first impression.
I am a supporter of small business and chose to support them rather order from somewhere larger, it's just a shame their customer service was not up to much.
I might have felt differently if I already knew the business owners but I didn't so all I had to go on was my direct experience.
I hope they can run a successful business but I feel that they need to learn a thing or two about customer service.

Re: Compass Point
No moans from me Sent an email asking if they had a particular shoe / size in stock. Got a pretty quick reply saying 'no' but had some coming soon. I replied ok but I'll probably get some next time I'm over in Helsingfors.... couple of days later got a mail saying shoe / size had arrived from Finland & did I want them.... 'yes please'... posted, invoiced, paid within 3 days...
Good enough for me

Shiny new shoes and leggings received today, just over a week after ordering with email notification of receipt and dispatch of order. What's not to like!

Re: Compass Point
So I ordered and payed in January for items that Rom rang to say were out of stock. I still have neither o shoes or compass (£170)!
I can't get hold of Rom despite 4 emails and 3 phone calls and now not sure what to do. I really want to support them, but I'm getting no where. Any thoughts?
