Peoplw who play bowls are hard
Just received an e mail saying the orienteering event for this evening has been cancelled (not happy), but the people on the bowling ground outside my window are out there in full body waterproofs with unbrellas being blown inside out. Bowls players harder than orienteers - what is this?!
Will? We've got proper fire now!

well tonight's organisers had to put up with worse than the weather - a bunch of annoying schemies... mainly intent on trying to knock down the tent with a football, only one control went missing tho so that was good. fun filled race too with a comedy "lets run the wrong way out of the start then do a 180" routine from a number of us...

ah, some orienteers may be pansies, but try xc runners. i went to our local midweek league where we usually get about 300, yet tonight there was less than 200 - just a wee storm brewing and they all go running (or not, as the case actually was)
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.

only 12 at training tonight! at least 5 were total beginners though which is impressive as it was chucking it down
my cousins visiting from dubai thought it was so cool how we get rain as they get it once every couple of years
I didn't think it was so cool when I got home shivering and resembling a large trainer-wearing rat

speaking from experience (being a member of Melbourne Bowls Club myself) I think the most impressive thing is the fact that the bowlers have the white gear for any conditions- short shorts and long socks, white rain coats, etc.
