Good luck to the 7 athletes (6x18s and 1x16) going to EYOC - the first real opportunity for our athletes to experience international competition.
I hope the 3 travelling staff aren't too stretched supporting you!

Shame there's only one 16 going. But hey, I don't run the programme.

Perhaps we should be looking at nations more typical to us.... like Denmark and Switzerland.....full teams of 16s.

Can't see why funding should make a difference to the number we select. The Sport England money didn't seem to make much difference to athlete contributions anyway, and there are other sources of funds that individuals can tap into.

Anyone know why we aren't taking advantage of this opportunity?

In the past there have been first year 16s selected who have still been 14 when the competition happens at end of June, and have not reacted well to the pressure of competition which has affected the whole team.

So Jackie & Paul weren't prepared to take anyone they don't know - ie not in Talent Squad.

I had 3 16's athletes from NWOA miss out last year and offered to pay my way out to support them. When that offer was turned down I complained to Mike Hamilton, who sympathised but felt he has to support the Talent Squad coaches.

To be fair a lot of the philosophy appears to come from Sport England - perhaps now the money's gone the coaches will be less shackled.

Anyway, time to focus on the races - good luck to the few that made it this year.

Yes, focus on the competition now. Starts for Sprint are from 08.30 UK time tomorrow, Friday. Live results on EYOC website. Planner's notes suggests a few 'tricks' in store.

From the splits Freddie gained nearly a minute in the middle section so I'm guessing he either missed a control or crossed something he shouldn't have. My guess would be an artificial barrier given the number of DQs

Sprint courses have been posted on EYOC website. Looks to have been a lot of climb! 6-7 and 10-11 on the M18 look to have been the head scratcher legs...
