Mixed punching SportIdent (SI) electronic timing will be used, ie both SiAC (contactless) cards and older SI SI Card (contact) cards will work.

Firstly, I thought "mixed punching" was used to mean that the SI boxes will work both in normal mode and in Air (contactless) mode. The final details just say SIAC "will work", but of course they "work" both as normal direct punching cards, and as contactless punching cards. So is Air mode going to be enabled at the event, or not?

Secondly, if controls will be in Air (beacon) mode, why? (given, amongst other things, the E&CC recommends against it, and the SI units use more power in beacon mode)

Opportunity for long legs is limited due to the shape of the area along with multiple tracked/open terrains.

Good to know that now, so that we don't need to be disappointed when instead of long legs, we get a 10km Middle Distance course.

The units will be in SIAir mode and your SIAC contactless punching will work at all three events. We made this decision following the example set by the JK and BOC, as we believe it provides a better competitor experience.

I haven't seen the courses, and its true that we have lost access to parts of the area we had used previously. But any idea that planner Mike Stewart is obsessed with "Middle Distance" style can be dispelled with a look at his previous effort at Craig a' Barns...

Does anybody know what colour order the relay bibs go in? Can't find this in the final details...
I have red, white and blue. Being Dutch I would put them in that order

That's the correct order (I think,I'm fairly sure but not 100%)

It's been red, white and blue in that order ever since we had a Dutch operations director.
Possibly longer.

Enjoyed the race at Gullane today. Course 3 was good, despite a very narrow shape map (but it was worth the 3km trip to the start to use the far bit).

SIAC punching all worked fine, as Graeme predicted

A pity one of the controls was in the wrong place (#213), which spoilt things a bit.
