Quarter Marathon?

Gosh it's dull round here isn't it? So I thought I'd tell you about the dream I had last night. I was in Iceland (the country not the supermarket ) Running a quarter marathon organised by the country's richest man who looked alarmingly like the baddy out of Sherlock - not Moriarty but the one he killed. He made his money from developing a polio vaccine. It was a splendid affair and we decided to have the party at the beginning not the end - perhaps not such a good idea - anyway it was dark by the time we started running ( ah! That explains why some people were wearing pajamas!).

Then Mr H. woke me up with a cup of tea and I said :"Why doesn't any one put on a quarter marathon? Sounds so much more exciting and impressive than a 10K - you wouldn't catch me running a 10k but I might have a bash at a quarter marathon!"

Anyway - so why aren't there any quarter marathons?
