It's fast approaching the time to select the races for the 2017 UK Urban League (target mid-October, to meet expected deadline for CompassSport).
I've just extracted all the level B and C fixtures that are flagged as 'Urban' from the BOF fixture list. The list, plus a few others that I've been advised of or are declared as 'linked events' for the YHUL and EMUL, reads:

Several of these are ticking the boxes that make them attractive for UKUL: new (or nearly new) areas, or combining with another event. We already have a three-way pull on 21 May, with urban events as part of weekends in Humberside, west Wales and Essex. It's a testament to the popularity of UKUL that these widely-spread events can be regarded as 'clashing'!
Any more? It would be a great help if those events that are currently lacking the 'urban' flag were suitably tagged.
If your event is going to be great and you want it to be included in the league, let me know!

Re: UK Urban League 2017
Something in Scotland would be nice. EUOC are just back today, but the Big Weekend (Jan 21-22) is likely to be urban. Similarly, I believe ESOC Sprint-O Feb 5th are looking at a newly-mapped-by-rocky urban area of west Edinburgh for a two-race chasing sprint.
6-day has Wed 2nd Aug “rest” day with a sprint race in Ballater, so that could be the biggest Urban event in the country.

Aire and Claro events listed, whilst not registered as urban, are all urban. Bradford and Wetherby both brand new areas and maps.

Also, May 21at is the Scottish Champs w/e. It's a level A, somewhat close to England, and we already moved it once since BOF decided to schedule a UKOL against it. Not that anyone gives a [nope] about level A any more, but please leave us alone,

Maybe. But I'd suggest even less give a nope about UKOL. Probably more care about the UKUL.
BTW which area is being used for the Scottish Champs?

GG is in charge of the 2017 6-Day sprint at Ballater, so worth asking him.

SE definitely needs something. Whitstable (Kent) on 8th October (Registered with BO). Lovely seaside town - new map, oysters and a nice forest event on the Saturday.

Yeah I saw the list and couldnt see any Scottish events. From past experience Scots clubs are a wee bit less handy with the forward planning than down south. (ESOC have an urban sprint in Penicuik on 6 Nov that was too late to go in the 2016 SOUL series)
The Forres sprint rest day in WOC/Highland 2015 was a huge urban event but I only put it in the urban league because at the time we didnt have enough races for the series. |ON the other hand its also good exposure for BTO our sponsors.
FYI "your man" for the 2017 BTO SOUL series is now Pat Squire of INT, Andypat is stepping down to spend more (or at least some) time with his family...
FFYI it looks like we may be having the prize giving for the 2016 SOUL series at the Edinburgh Big weekend in January 2017, assuming EUOC dont object. I'll be in touch with the current trophy holders to try and get the trophies back at or around SOUL 9 at Lanark.

Re: UK Urban League 2017
Update:
As the UK leg of the Euro City Tour passes to Bristol in 2017, London is considering the rare opportunity to use the standard UKUL age categories. Four different people from the organising club have informed me of this! So London is a candidate after all.
After Stirling, Brighton and Norwich, it looks as though we could even have the final race (and prize-giving) somewhere a bit more central next year.
And Greywolf informs me that Scotland offers more than just heather, proffering:
Sat 21 Jan Edinburgh
Sun 19 Feb Lossiemouth
Wed 2 Aug Ballater (during Scottish 6-days)
Keep them coming.

Castle Vale is a great urban area and would provide a December finale.
