I agree - but I noted this in the AGM paperwork: "In accordance with the Articles of Association, proxy votes will only be counted if the vote goes to a poll. Normally, proposals are decided by a show of hands as set out in Article 45" which suggests they are at least considering it!

It won't be a show of hands job, there is too much debate and interest around. Really exciting things like adoption of accounts and appointment of auditors are normally show of hands, but I wouldn't want an issue that's generated this much discussion to be voted for in this way and I really doubt my colleagues on the Board would either.

Where "they" means the SOA membership, when they voted against your proposal at the AGM.

£500.00... Entry fees where £4.00 per junior.

Agree, £4 entry is derisory for an "international". So again BOF passed on the chance to make a handy profit.

Sorry Graeme, but the SOA levy is begrudged. In 2014 the SOA accounts show income of £237k expenditure of £230k. Levies of £16k and a bank balance of £160k, yet they won't update the tax (levy) barrier of £8.00, therefore events such as the recent SNC and SSC had entry fees of £10 when they would have been £8.50, if it wasn't for this tax.

This tax is killing level C events in the South of Scotland as the numbers generally don't add up. There used to be upto 9 events in the SoSOL league this has reduced in recent years to 5 or 6. If the British Orienteering levy increases to £1.35 in 2017, these events will have to charge £10 and participation will reduce again.

I don't understand - in the north-east we charge £6.00 for a level C event and generally break even over the year (and thats with competitors mostly from 2 or 3 clubs). We look to make more surplus from larger events such as SOL etc.

SMF I think the issue with sosol is more to do with marketing of the events and the series itself, than the price/levy. I think thats been recognised as there was a consultation recently went out, which I contributed to.

I can see SOA's point though as there is the issue of a double levy to take account of since the BOF decision to levy all events even level D.
