If you were team management, you'd have gone to the party Gross, but I'm not sure who would be looking out for who...

Re: Cat Taylor in the National Press!
I seem to recall a certain Portuguese banquet where the team manager got so drunk they fell over and cut their head open. Perhaps no stone throwing.
I also think that posting this on nopesport was completely unnecessary and insensitive. Don't start with any bollocks about 'everyone would have found out anyway' because posting here invites discussion/gossip and that is just not needed in this case. Show some compassion and respect for people's feelings. Life is tough enough.
People **** up all the time. Let's let her learn and move on.

Agree with MIE. Even better would be having it removed.God only knows what the insensitive poster was thinking. I'm being very restrained about him/her. Perhaps we should boycott his/her magazine in case he/she posts it there - not an ex employee of a tabloid are they?

Far from an isolated incident
Skjerp deg!
Public shaming is disgusting.
But totally appropriate to share negative stories in this case imo.
Giving sympathy keeps people where they are.
'Hey it's OK, just be yourself'
No it's not OK and sometimes it's more compassionate to be honest.
Carb the f* up people. For real.

Getting a tad angsty aren't we? I read this in the Torygraph (someone else's!) before I looked at Nopesport. Premiership footballers do this all the time and it doesn't harm their sport. I hope one of Lyndon's pens is on its way to Cat.
I have never tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs

I don't know Norwegian but assume you are referring to the posting rather than Cat getting wasted?☺Ive already seen it on facebook this am so any thoughts of censorship surely moot. My thoughts when I read it in this order were....
1. Shocked. Hope she doesn't lose out on any sponsorship because of that.
2. I remember talking to Cat after she DQ herself from the British Sprint Champs (subsequently reinstated) a few years back. She has a lot of credit in the bank from that IMO.
3. Laughed. It's actually quite funny when you read the story. (If you try not to think too much about the folk involved.)
4. Lightweight! It took 4 bouncers to eject me from a Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine gig at the Barrowlands in the early 90s. One for each limb...☺
I'd be happy to chip in to help pay the fine if anyone wants to shove the metaphorical hat around!

Athlete is human being shock
I was shocked, but if Barrable wants to out himself as a Telegraph reader, that's up to him.
The article itself is amusing more than shaming - the image of a burly bouncer trying to pick his assailant from an identity parade of Cat lookalikes is somehow irresistible.

Re: Cat Taylor in the National Press!
Yep wow what a legend, even more of a legend now!
I agree! I certainly hope there are zero consequences for her and her important work is not interrupted and she can keep inspiring the next generation!
Let's all club together and pay the fine for her and use this publicity to help get her more sponsorships so she doesn't ever have to worry about where the next meal is coming from and can afford to pay for all those important flights and training camps! We can easily all tolerate spending a few days extra working to help make her finances go around.
Doormen and the police should have stayed out of it because she deserved a night out after all that tough running in wet weather! What a hero!
She got orienteering in the Dail Fail as well. Hopefully this brings more positive inspirational people to our sport! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... edals.html

Re: Cat Taylor in the National Press!
No sympathy 'Harry'. Not saying it's ok. Not condoning bad behaviour.
Just making the point that people mess up. Often.
Do they need public shaming? - no.
Do they need us to comment on the 'flaws' in their behaviour/personality? - no.
I believe that open discussion about this on Facebook and nopesport is unhelpful in the same way that if one of my drunken errors were discussed on this forum. Some people can easily brush off 'community judgement'. Others can't.
What if the story was of being assaulted by someone else rather than on someone else? Would we be discussing it then? Both are equally likely when under the influence of alcohol.
We all have a story of drunken misfortune/misjudgement. Most are lucky not to be publicised in this way. Let's have the moral courage to acknowledge that this behaviour is not desirable but is human nature/folly, likely reflects our own behaviour at some time and support rather than criticise those involved.
Schadenfreude is also very unbecoming.

Re: Cat Taylor in the National Press!
Srollins, MIE and RS…. Get a grip.
Firstly….. Cat is an adult and will be able to cope with the issues involved, the embarrassment of being taken to a police station and the subsequent court appearance and criminal record. I am sure she has many friends and colleagues who will help her through it all. And it fact, it is obvious that the majority of individuals on Nopesport will support her too. But to say that it shouldn’t be posted on Nopesport is absurd…. Everyone can now express their thoughts and opinions.
Secondly….. The opinions of the hundreds of thousands of readers of the paper and other media to the report is unknown and may not matter all that much. Perhaps bad publicity is OK. Perhaps even the whole affair will melt away into oblivion….
Thirdly….. Assault is an extremely serious offence. It should not be treated lightly, and should never be tolerated. However, Cat has been dealt with by the ‘system’ and she has received her punishment. IMO there is no need to castigate her further.
Fourthly….. The ‘sport’ and the NGB have a role to play, now. We will have to wait and see if they are going to respond.
Fifthly….. Other sports are littered with talented athletes who have had moments of ‘sillyness’ and ‘inappropriate behaviour’. All too often the final outcome is not good for the future performance of the athletes involved. Perhaps her friends should be sufficiently supportive to keep her performing at the top.
