Re: WOC sprint
excellent. Do I want to pay to watch the other events? Especially as for several of them I'll be at work with crap computers that probably won't cope with the technology and people to see.

Re: WOC sprint
The liveblog will be free! Today was a bit frantic with three runners per minute, but we're hoping to include some GPS screenshots in the future blogs.

Re: WOC sprint
where is the live blog? I found the GPS tracking site but that said it was 18 euros a week or 10 per race after today.

It's in the menu on the right-hand side of every event page e.g. http://www.woc2015.org/info/sprint-qualification-forres

Re: WOC sprint
Thanks, I struggled with trying to watch the 3 GPS screens, I needed to keep refreshing them as they got laggy. That will be good for other days if I don't pay for GPS. Could other people see Kirsten Jones on the Livecentre GPS? I seemed to be missing quite a few people but maybe I hadn't set it up correctly and the default view only shows some competitors.

Re: WOC sprint
A good atmosphere in the arena last night given that most people won't be travelling up until today. Some highlights (aside from the solid runs all of the GB team)
The event team giving out flags for everyone to wave
Watching the Talent Squad members cheer on the GB runners as they punching at pre-warning and then sprint across the arena to cheer them on during the run in
The cricket fans, buoyed up by the test win, chanting RUUUUUTH as she came in

Re: WOC sprint
Splits now up. All the GBR runners stayed within the top 15 throughout their runs.

Lots of 5s route choice errors, a few where 10-15s were up for grabs. Simple control sites and no tricks either, with world class orienteers losing concentration and failing to qualify. Gets my my vote.
There's a detailed article below, by Jan Kocbach of World of O, analysing the qualifier route choices. On the long leg 8 Yannick Michiels covers 718m of orienteering at a 2.58min/k pace, taking time out of people taking more optimal routes!
