Don't think there's space in the world for both Trail-O and Geocaching - both sides should select champions who can settle the matter once and for all in a special arena in the middle of the BOC assembly area, using those ginormous Q-tips they had on Gladiators....

These facts add up - I'd like to know who it was, but I didn't ask for a name and shame on what is essentially a public forum.

Although as I mentioned above I think there is a second perspective that its not 100% clear in the details that the Tempo area is part of the "competition area" referred to in the final details from which all sprint competitors are disallowed till after courses close.

This might explain why they were there, but not why they argued with the officials and ignored their requests.

Clerly they didn't try and pre-meditatedly. but when they got there and were told they were in there then that should have been a pretty strong hint. It wasn't as if it was a long range control and they were passing in front of kites, they were directly between the chair and the kites, only several metres away.

This could have been made clearer in the Sprint details had it been considered vital - which with hindsight it clearly was.

I made very specific requests that such information was clear in the Event Information with the reasons why. The map was then clearly marked as OOB and the followign statement is in the Programme (in the Sprint section, not TempO):
"The competition area is Out Of Bounds until courses close at 16.45. People leaving
the arena before then should return to their transport the same way that they
arrived."
That sounds pretty clear to me!

It doesn't exactly paint a happy picture of geocachers does it? Anyway as England Shinty captain I'd bring my caman, none of this PG-Tips nonsense!

Can I strongly defend myself having been named as one of the possible miscreants ! I'm runningmap and I only did the 1 cache at the University, the one mentioned. I didn't do any others as it was p***ing rain and that was the only one that interested me. If someone would like to return to the caches near the temp-o they'll find a paper log at each one which would identify who these rude people really were. And, yes, caches are supposed to be found without giving the show away to anyone watching.

I should also clarify that the Pixie cache is between the university and the M6, so nowhere near the temp-o.

Apparently, the cache involved in this incident was GC3RTYA Campus Trail: The Duck Pond http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC3R ... -duck-pond which was logged found on 3 April 2015 by MudESOCs. Who might not have been the "idiot" team either, but post says they used phones, so if "idiots" were using GPS, it wasn't them.
