OK so rather than wringing our hands, why not shout it from the rooftops. Or do we not want music fesivals or rock groups Tweeting about us?

Who said anything about wringing their hands? I like the idea of giving folk an incentive to stay up for the full week. And if you can get a few along to our event, the more the merrier.
Must admit that's a good job been done getting cash from the council. I know how pressed they are so it shows they at least have some interest in gaining maximised value from the event.

On the other point raised, does it really matter if BOF send up an official contingent for the full week or not? I mean it's not as if they are immediately recognisable media personalities. I'm sure we have WOC event officials who are equally as competent in selling orienteering. Maybe we should be using the BOF staff to make sure that there is something in place during and after WOC in other parts of the country (or at least getting the information out). Is that not what they are there for?

Some more good news just in. As part of the International Events programme EventScotland have agreed to £25,000 funding for the Scottish 6 Days. Money will be spent promoting Year of Scotland's Food & Drink (event marquees), promotional filming including a drone and temporary bridging. We need at least 4,000 of you from across the border and/or the sea to meet our KPIs. The Highland Council funding (£25,000) is going towards event services and infrastructure. This is in addition to the £30,000 secured for WOC before I was involved in the great game. Moray Council have put in £10,000 and we also had nearly £18,000 from ActivePlaces, Highland Council and the Forestry Commission Scotland towards our bridge and track improvements. After the latest storms hope it is still there

Even if they are not there, they do a very good tour of their operation with a taste session - which was free the couple of times I've done it. Worth a visit if you have a spare couple of hours!

Great piece on BBC ALba news tonight about WOC and the development work MIke is doing in Moray. Well done sir! Managed to get across the relevance of O to the Curriculum for Excellence too. Nice touch to get everyone to bring their GB and Scottish O tops although one or two looked as if they might have been "borrowed" from an older (larger) sibling

The tops all belonged to Murray Strain who helped us with all 4 sessions out in the woods. He'll get enough time in front of the camera in 5 months' time! The kids LOVED his GB tops and were fighting over his autograph (see album on Moravian's FB page and you'll get the idea).

I was pleased to see our Director of Education, Laurence Findlay, saying nice things, and also Graeme Milne (Elgin Rotary and a runner of some pedigree) sounding off in a suitably positive way. The Rotary Club coughted up £4,500 towards the WOC2015 & Beyond kit that is now being used widely in schools.
