The times for the splits around control number 156 (15 on W21E) were "doctored"
prior to putting on WinSplits,SplitsBrowser and RouteGadget (and hence on the
AutoDownload splits list) as the 3 above mentioned tools tend to go "bananas"
when they are presented with a zero value as a split. I looked at a couple of splits to 156 (on each course affected) and created a value for the split to 156 (ignoring the consequential effect of the split to the next control. -- I was getting tired at this point)
for those runners with a zero valued split.
Perhaps not the most scientific method but it means that competitors on the affected courses (who were not affected by the problem) can see almost meaningful data.

Re: Southern Champs/Interland?
Seems a moot point given the problems noted above but WinSplits appears to have no splits- is that easy to rectify?

Sorry, buzz, I'm working on it -- possibly a problem associated with the base time given
to WinSplits when the data was uploaded. It was spotted last night and, I hope, it will
be sorted by this evening. (But, I'm not the web-master, and it one of his tasks -- I just supplied the duff gen .

This is an old argument, and for the record I agree with you. However the rules explicitly forbid the application of common sense at a Level A event - one reason why I personally would refuse to organise one (another being that I'm a crap organiser anyway).Arnold wrote:It is a shame that a common sense solution

MIE,
Apologies, the last time I won a regional championship Cain had recently slewed Abel so Seth wasn't on top form and I managed to pip him for the win. I think I managed it again at the weekend and after an hiatus of 4,000 years or so I am quite interested to find out for definite.

On the matter of the medals, it does seem to be a missed opportunity to not acknowledge the performance of a child who has come second or third in the Southern Championships. It's hard to imagine any other sport that would allow an 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 year old to go into school on a Monday morning excited about the sport and their success with absolutely nothing to show for it. Medals do help market our sport, especially in the age of facebook et al.
Rob.
Agreed. I posted a comment with a similar sentiment under the topic "Do you want a medal or what?"

Sorry -- used the same file for the upload to the results system -- it was 1 version out
from the final version that went to the printer

All of Course 5 went to the correct first control, so no worries.
BTW Results now on the BO site and UKOL points allocated for both Saturday and
Sunday.
