Do we have too many 'big' events?

When I started in the sport, at a domestic level there was: JK, BOC, BRC+IRC, Harvester, & Sth/Mid/Nth/Scot championships. And at an international level: WOC (every second year).

To this we have added: BSC, BMC, CS Cup (2 rounds), SHI, VHI, JHI, PPT, YBT (2 rounds), BSchC, BSchSC, and internationally: WC, EOC, JEC, WUOC (as well as more people wanting to run Tio-Mila, Jukola, etc). Probably plus a few I have forgotten.

And removed: just senior & veterans classes from IRC...

Combine this with different parts of the country having their best O season at different times of year (e.g. February is almost closed season in Scotland but almost peak season in the south), and It shouldn't be surprising that the fixtures group have difficulty fitting it all in, and have to make compromises over time of year, areas, etc.

Should we consider culling some of the domestic programme?

Yep I agree about too many events.

Right amount of competitions though.

However instead of culling how about combining?

Agree with Eddie.
Think its a bit bizarrre that we ship everyone off out of sight for the JHI/SHI/VHI when this could be combined with a major event of a similar nature.

SHIs next year is combined with Northern Champs (Individual) and YHOA Champs (relays).
