Does BOF membership include PL insurance to compete in events abroad? MH's e-news says "our Public Liability insurance will also cover events organised by members of British Orienteering anywhere in the European Union." which suggests not (unless event is in the EU and organised by BOF members) - so why assume that other federations insure their members to compete abroad?

Enough of all these boring technicalities, what I want to know is what is the merchandise like?

Back in 1999 I purchased my first ever event sweatshirt - the WOC one with the dolphins on the back. I naively thought they would all be that good but I've never seen anything better - I shall be getting it out of its carefully preserved cryogenic state for next summer but hope to replace it with a new hoody. What's on offer?

It's personal preference. I love the technical T's that 6 days did 2009/2011, perhaps more recently too, not sure.

I think you are confusing the phrases
"free personal liablity insurance will not be included as part of your entry fee"
with
"you will not be allowed to compete"

The former while technically true does not need to be explicitly stated as it is simply one of the many thousands of products that are not provided free with the entry fee - and would make the website rather large.

The latter is simply not true.

I'm hoping for really nice hoodies and o-shirts. The lakes ones looked nice this year.

The quality and variety of merchandise usually depends on the volunteer who's offered to do the job of sourcing, "designing", colour selecting and ordering the merch, and who they contact about making it.

There have been some really good tops and tech tees in the past, there have also been some really ordinary ones. My bright yellow helpers tee from 2013 hasn't been worn since the event for instance, I have Hi Viz stuff for running, I don't want it for casual wear too.

We do have a really nice logo for Highland 2015 though so I'm hoping some of the colours and patterns are incorporated into the designs, and being one of the planners this year I really really hope the major officials get similarly smart tees to the grey ones that Oban officials had.

The Oban helpers T was nice - I still wear mine a lot. The Moray logo on the back T were a bit out there - I wear this one a lot less! - can we have the logo on the front for WOC/Highland please?
