Team event idea

I like team events and relays and was wondering about something like this at the White Rose 2015.....
Take the times of the fastest say 7 members of each club on the Saturday...... maybe long course times divided by 2 and junior B courses multiplied by 2...... Add them together. Then have a chasing start relay of say 4x1km courses (teams of one, two, three or four with people free to run one or more laps) starting/finishing/changing over in the assemby field on Saturday night at the same time as the mass start score event we usually have with every else spactating/socialising - we could even have the changeover in the marquee. Fastest team would start about 8.30pm and finish say 9pm.
It might be exciting......??

I've always liked the idea of Team-O which has national champs in Switzerland (and I believe in Germany, maybe other places too).

The idea is simple: teams of three, one SI Card per team. SI Card has to do the whole course. You have to finish together and be all together at one or more controls on the course.

In recent years there have been some battles between Team Hubmann (yup - all *3* brothers) and Team Kyburz (ditto).

I like the fact the White Rose team event can be run as a family! Also many clubs do no thave 7 runners and lots have more, so not all runners would be able to participate.

White Rose is already stuffed with great looking courses and a team competition, it must be hard enough to organise already?

But how about this which might meet your aim and reduce your workload?

For one/some/all of the white rose competitions, a collecting in controls competition. Mass start after course close/when the organiser says go. Teams of any size up to say 10, any club, any age. Mugging other teams of their controls not allowed. Prize at the end of the weekend for the winning team.

Good idea, Sean. Maybe you could have bonus points for the bits of plastic tape marking the controls sites, returned either with or without the marker

Or the portuguese roulette option, where the control collecting competition starts before everyone has finished.

To be fair, that was Spain. Portugal went for the 'plan your route the night before the event' faux pas.
