Re: Steve Birkinshaw's Wainwrights
Thankfully tracker wrong - he's now at Dodd (185) only another 29 to do and he's invited everyone to join him on the last section tomorrow
Details here from his blog
A few people have asked whether they can run the last leg with Steve on Friday evening. I've checked with Steve and he is very happy for runners to join him for the last leg... The more the merrier!
If you are keen to run with Steve this will be a once in a generation oppertunity to see a major fell running record broken (fingers crossed everything still goes to plan). Regardless, it would be fantastic for Steve to have a big crowd of runners to accompany him on the last leg and/or meet him in Keswick.
If he is on schedule it'll mean leaving Newland Hause at roughly 1800 on Friday evening and running/walking (slowly) to Keswick. It is 17km with 1000m of ascent. Steve should arrive in Keswick about about 2300. Anyone joining Steve will need to check his tracker to make sure they arrive at Newlands Hause in time to join him as obviously his timings may change. I'll keep the blog as up to date as I can with the ETA.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to run into the records books with a fell running legend!

Or to donate to his excellent cause!
Back of Skiddaw is now behind him and he'll be heading to the NW Fells next.
"only" 29 or so to do ... which is still a long session out in the fells!

Re: Steve Birkinshaw's Wainwrights
Three important messages for everyone supporting Steve
Donations from his blog
Most importantly, please make a donation to Steve's charities (link below). Just a small donation from everyone will really make a collective big difference and each time I tell Steve how much the donations have increased you can see how motivating it is for him.

It would of course be possible to run a shorter leg and Steve from Catbells onwards. He should arrive at Catbells at 2201 if he is on schedule.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to run into the records books with a fell running legend!
See Steve Finish
Steve is due to finish at 2311 at Moot Hall in Keswick. Please come down and cheer him in. It'll be an amazing atmosphere and definately an occasion to say..."I was there"

Re: Steve Birkinshaw's Wainwrights
Going up tonight, and taking the kids to run the last section from Catbells to Keswick.
Bless him, but I'm not sure Steve will be in any state to chat...
Mind you, the latest video from Crummock Water has him trotting into the CP!

This is utterly phenomenal - what drive. I see that the state of his feet is effecting his route choice quite significantly, but he's still moving at an amazing pace.

Nearly there and by now I guess with a growing crowd. Hope Keswick is ready for something a bit different to a normal Friday night.
Just giving now total £9k and rising quickly.

Causey Pike route looks OK to me.
It may be the state of his feet, but at this stage he could also just be reducing the climb.

Re: Steve Birkinshaw's Wainwrights
Apparently climbing is Ok is the descents that are a problem hence the contouring route from Causey Pike to Barrow.
Truly amazing effort. I'm looking forward to the film

Steve's just reached the top of High Spy, so only Maiden Moor and Cat Bells to go.

Re: Steve Birkinshaw's Wainwrights
On top of Catbells now, all 214 done! No real way to avoid steep descents which seem to be hurting a lot.
