LAMM 2014 Strathcarron
The SOA Professional Officer and SOA Development Officer will be competing against each other at this year's LAMM. Almost certainly they will not be troubling the prize list, though Freefall and his running partner Dave (from CLARO) have an enviable number of points for the handicap class. There are some good orienteers taking part including previous winner Duncan Archer in the Elite class I believe. Forecast hot and sunny I think.

Same event centre as 2004 LAMM. That went SE of the A890, so you have to think this is going NW towards Torridon. Plenty of hills to play in. In 2004 there was snow and blizzards on the tops on a Saturday in the middle of June. Doesn't look like the same forecast this time, indeed it looks relative nice, and even a breeze to keep the midges at bay.

I was there last time - I remember the snow. I also remember the "winners" on the Elite (Ifor) forgot to go to the first(?) control on the second day and hence finished earlier than anyone expected

SOA Development Officer vehemently denies that she's "competing", she's going for an enjoyable weekend in the hills and will do her best to keep up with Jenny, 18 years her junior. (insert "slightly anxious" face)

Hilary,
easy solution: You carry your rucsac, your water and your wetties. Put everying else in the youngster's bag.... Use her as a mule and you navigate. Works every time!

My youngster is 53 but I might try the same tactic.

Was a real rollercoaster emotionally. Johns write up of our outing is still on the web. http://www.lamm.co.uk/2004/john_hunt.html
I would like to apologise for the 10 minutes of swearing that followed my downloading.
Good luck everybody this weekend.

For those of you sitting at home in a comfy chair, you can see the courses and planners route choice here. There should be a link to Sundays courses on the LAMM website on Sunday morning.

Re: LAMM 2014 Strathcarron
I'm surprised they post the route choice so early, won't it be visible to those with fancy phones doing the event? It's a shame they don't show the controls for the score event.
