When was the BOF website last touched by a professional web developer?

I believe that it's ONLY been touched by a paid developer, which is what makes it even worse.
The requirement to have a browser window of at least 1200px wide (or you cut off the right side) and no recognition of devices like phones & tablets is not acceptable for any site built in the last couple of years by a professional.
Anyone with some knowledge of HTML should look at the source code, it's full of inline styles, which has been bad practice for at least 8 years, this is also what makes it very hard to cope with different screen sizes.
The old menu (that made me feel seasick) has gone, so there is something positive about the update.

Re: New BOF page
There are some good ideas but so poorly executed. Having different content and navigation for members and non-members is a great idea. But the only thing that changes when you switch from one view to the other is the menu structure. The main content of the home page is of no interest to non-members.
Paul is right - the BOF website has always been and still is one of the worst examples of web development. And we've paid good money for it.

We built a club entry system so you don't have to! racesignup.co.uk

Do you know 'good money' has been paid? The latest update hasn't changed the back end much, if at all, the crap news system is still there for example. So this is just a menu/design change. Perhaps the money wasn't there to improve it more. I agree they could have done a lot more for mobile versions, but you'd be surprised how many clients just don't care about that.. perhaps BOF didn't want it because it was deemed to be harder to fit with the current back end and would thus cause more £££ so they opted for a simple spruce up.

Re: New BOF page
I quite like it.
The arguments going on here by IT experts make me feel a bit like a kid whose just got a shiny new bike for Christmas only for Bradley wiggins to come along and criticise the gears...

I'm seeing four pictures of women (one repeated) and five pictures of men (one repeated). Maybe it's like those targetted ads where they show you what they think you want to see based on what you bought your mum for her birthday.
I'm no expert, but I prefer the page Paul Frost built for RTC. And I think if I had some Bradley Wiggins time I'd make better use of it than checking the gears on my bike.

Yes perhaps the men's relay line up (with your good self seemingly already out of breath
) will disappear in time and something a little more representative will crop up - let's hope so,

Comparing apples to oranges?
RTC site is ~10 static pages
BOF site is lots of static pages, news pages, membership system, ranking system, results, etc etc

Technically the JK Trophy - no sex discrimination with respect to who can enter. This year I think that there were at least two girls on the start line

Nick Barrable at the far right seems to be taking a cheeky look at his map before the whistle goes. Shame on him!
