York City Race
Does anybody know if this event is open starts? There are no start times up on Fabian and nothing on the flyer to say it is open starts. Hope so as we leave for Yorkshire in a couple of hours!

It's usually open starts so I am assuming the same this year. Could be wrong, of course!

Yes - Open starts from 10am to 12 noon. But queues likely on B (we'll have to split it next year). And at least one great leg.....
Just been counting maps including the extras that have just arrived! 25 spare on A, 26 on B, 15 C, 7 D, 23 on E, 22 F.

Look interesting courses on Routegadget from an armchair perspective. Did the event map extend further west than that on the web, or were the tracks on course 1 apparently running off the map using local knowledge? And does another track honest enough to be seeming to show a parallel error running into out-of-bounds perhaps suggest that in this case more detail could have been shown in the olive green to make it clear that there is an earlier, OOB right turn?

It did extend further, that was a viable route

Re: York City Race
I'm really enjoying all the route choices being reproduced on Route Gadget! Thanks for putting them up - they make planning worthwhile. It is especially rewarding to note that our club RG guru didn't notice one route choice through the station even after his run in the comfort of his computer chair and so left that bit off the RG map.
Apologies to those who had to queue for a long time. We're sorry and it won't happen again. Start times and a few more courses next year. At least it was warm and sunny.

Start blocks might work better for this kind of race rather than specific times. something to consider!

Enjoying having a look through the courses - looks like great fun.
One point/question.
Looking at Course 1, my first instinct Start-1 would be SE towards the fountain, turn left, straight across the big open space through a couple of snickets and down the main road to the control.
However, I know that that open area is actually the market with (I think) permanent market stalls - meaning that you couldn't ever just run straight across it. In this sort of situation is it possible to map to reflect it?
Few other places I can think with similar scenario.

Looking at Win Splits today I am surprised to find a M14 on my course . No problem that he had run before on the MJ, but thought that he was too young under BOF conditions. He was obviously running on his own looking at the speed he went. Irresponsible, on behalf of parents and club allowing this to occur.

'Permanent but movable' I'd describe it as, hard to map accurately and definitely not from year to year.

Yawn, clearly his parents deemed him able enough to do it. Looking at course D there is only 1 road that had any traffic on it, crossed twice. Can we drop this nonsense complaint please (so that by the time my kid is 14 I can make a judgement rather than bureaucracy!)

Which other rules (stupid or not) do you think you should be able to break if you have a note from your mum?
