Is this right? Surely in the past it has been just a team meeting the handicap rules, and at least from the same club? (Not sure about mixed sex?)

It says mixed sex, but I think that's not a requirement - you just have to meet the points requirement. And you do need to be from the same club.

BTW, quietest moment of the day was at the prize giving when Andy Robinson asked if any club wanted to organise it next year. Any offer gratefully received I suspect. Might be worth looking back at some of the format suggestions on Nopesport if it would help persuade a club to organise it next year? One I remember that might appeal to a club already holding a regional is to split the relay into two, with 2 or 3 legs dusk till say midnight, then having the remaining legs early morning, say after 6am, or in combination with the regional event. This would mean an organising club wouldn't have to do an all nighter (which might be putting organising clubs off).

But of course this would take some of the challenge away from the event from the competitors viewpoint.

Sean (now I can speak from recent personal experience) manpower during the night is not an issue. The race only needs 2-3 people most of the time. Yes - I would love to see clubs queueing up to put it on, and of course more clubs running. But I don't think changing the format will help in that. So my message is that its not that hard to stage. You just need an area at the right time of year and access to equipment like marquees and lighting. I think clubs need to talk to each other a bit more. One club might have the inclination and the club next door might have a suitable area.

OK, I'm always hopeful there is a club toying with the idea of putting the event on.

Andy - could you put the theoretical club's mind at rest.

1) Marquee - did I see yours had "Party Tents" written on the side? DId you pay someone to hire it/put it up/take it down.

2) Planning. looking on route gadget - there are only 8 courses, 3 are gaffles plus no white or yellow. Am I right to say it's perhaps no more work than a standard level C event?

Help on the night or the day - yes also I think competitors from other clubs would volunteer. Also £12 per person entry was very reasonable, I think there's room for next year's organiser to charge a bit more if they are concerned about costs. British Night Champs was £14, let's not talk about British day champs.

SLOW have quite a good policy on your larger events I seem to remember - you used to leave a slot every year for "something different", which this year must = Harvester. Might be something other clubs could look at?

I chatted to a triathlon-T-shirted dog walker by the field; she asked if any women would be taking part. So I mentioned the course planner, and said there would be all women teams competing for a trophy. Looking at the results it's nice to see more women running in the Panasonic Trophy at the Harvester than the Women's Premier in the British Relays last year, held in the same part of Britain.

(I accept that there are several other courses offered at the British, and that there is a second trophy - for a team below a certain points value - in the Panasonic race.)
