Re: Tio Mila
And now we have Matt Speake pulling his way up the train, from 37th to 14th, just 42 secs down.

Re: Tio Mila
Leading group of 9 teams got away slightly, but Matt finished in 12th, just 1:37 down.
Södertälje-Nykvarn currently 4th on leg 5, with Scott running leg 6 and Ralph leg 10 in the morning.

Re: Tio Mila
Scott in the lead train (14 teams) on long night, with Ravinen (Bergman) now 7 mins behind. Can't believe he'll catch them...

Scott 4th, 17 seconds back. 17km in 102:26. 15th is only 45 seconds behind the lead.

Re: Tio Mila
Woke up this morning just after it had all finished, but from what i can see on the WorldofO live blog:
18 teams came back together after the "long-night" leg, with Scott for SNO in them.
At that stage Ravinen and Halden had closed the gap to about 5 minutes behind
At the end of gaffled leg 7 the teams had spread out a bit, with just 8 in the first minute, SNO and KR in the lead. Halden and Ravinen now 9-10 mins behind.
On leg 8 ThierryG (KR) pulled out a 2.5 min lead on next 3 chasing team (which included GG for Moras), put Thierry made a few mistakes and finished just 1.5 mins ahead.
On leg 9 KR are caught by the 3 chasing teams, but then the four runner split into two pairs, with KR and Lidingo leading, and SNO with Moras 2 mins behind. By the end of the leg they are 5 mins behind.
On leg 10 it sprint world champion Bostrom (Lidingo) versus relay champion Prochazka (KR), while Ralph S (SNO) competes with Ryapolov (Moras) for 3rd/4th. Bostrom gradually pulls out a 2 min lead over Prochazka for another KR win, while Ralph also gets away from Ryapolov to secure 3rd place for SNO and a 2 minute lead over Moras.
Exciting race, close till the end, and great to see so many British lads in amongst the leading teams fighting at the top.

Re: Tio Mila
Alasdair McLeod - leg 2 for Lillomarka second team (finish position 121st), - 20th fastest on leg. Faster than eventual winning team's time for that leg!
Lillomarka first team - incl Kris Jones and Matt Speake - were 11th - they missed being the leading Norwegian team by 26 seconds (in 11 hours.)
As others have remarked, great showing by Brit athletes. Very good coverage on the net.
@PhilJ - I guess your forum starting question got answered eventually?

Re: Tio Mila
Whilst you have to take a hypothetical Team GB with a pinch of salt (as they wouldn't have been in any train), a hypothetical GB team of:
L1: Jones
L2: McLeod
L3: Tullie
L4: Speake
would have come back at the end of 4th leg in 242:04, or as far as I can tell, over 4 minutes in the lead
that's how well the British guys ran
I'd continue for GG, Scott, Ralph etc but I can't see anyone to complete the team on L5, 7, 9.

Re: Tio Mila
Presumbly the control codes were correct? Are these events not controlled?
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: Tio Mila
I believe the issue was due to the moving of the control numbers around in OCAD to tidy up the layout, someone moved 23 and 22 around, controls would have been in the correct place and "flow" correct, but in the heat of competition this would have caused competitor brain drain.
