It would be a shame to have to void the JK because the organisers didn't follow some overspecified regulation...

No JK xplorer people turned up at tonight's intro, but that was probably expected as there is not supposed to be a link between xplorer and mainstream 'O'

A participation survey is now on the BOF website. I have filled it in as far as my excellent relay day outing (excellent in terms of enjoyment rather than performance) has equipped me to. I made specific mention of the catering situation, I was bought a cake by one of my children - it was horrible and apparently expensive. I also made mention of the merchandise which closely resembled last year's JK merchandise - why would you want two nearly identical items? Poor marketing in my opinion.

In the end who is the JK mainly for, orienteers who want a great standard of competition on great areas and a chance to catch up with their friends or the general public who might wonder what a JK or orienteering is?

Shouldn't the powers that be listen to the regular orienteers rather than trying to target a group of the population who are likely never to go to a JK? Will the questionnaire make any difference?

When I attend major sporting events (non-orienteering) which are mainly volunteer run I find I am influenced by parking and the walk to the event rather than event logos or quality of the activity. The ease of help and advice makes all the difference which is something orienteering is good at.

Finally I do value the smaller companies like O-Nosh and the like who turn out to so many events and anything we can do to support them I would encourage.

I did wonder if all the food vans actually belonged to Taste of Wales as they were not uniform in their outlets. Also used far too much polystyrene and various prices for hot drinks.
