Re: Tesco 3 for 2
The results pages now have correct details with ranking points for the first three days and no points for the combined Day 2 and 3.
I think the rankings list itself is only regenerated once a week, so that should get updated in the middle of next week.

Nope, the results pages still (at 7.30 saturday morning) seem to include ranking points for Days 2 & 3. If they were removed then I think they would disappear from the rankings immediately. I'm not entirely sure why the combined results need to be listed here separately anyway.
It points up a significant flaw in BOFs implementation of the rankings scheme, which relies on the individuals who post results to make corrections if they get it wrong - there's no-one authorised to intervene and correct obvious mistakes.

Is the above a fact that there is no one to intervene and make corrections?

Well no-one outside BOF (e.g. DJM or anyone else from the original Rankings working group) is able to. It may be that someone with BOF has access, but if so then they choose not to use it.
When I have emailed BOF office in the past pointing out really obvious errors e.g. use of the wrong BOF number - the response has been that there's nothing they can do and it is the reponsibility of the person uploading the results to get it right.

To correct results, you need to re-upload the results file (to overwrite the previous upload). Typically only the event organiser has the event results file, and hence only they can correct mistakes.
To turn events on and off for ranking points (so in this case turn on the individual days, but turn off the combined results event) you need administration access to the system, which is what BO staff have, but others don't.
The only reason to upload the JK combined results file is in order to create the UKOL results.

And on the occassions that I have had similar problems
I have e-mailed Mike Hamilton at the Office and he, or
one of the staff, have rectified the situation fairly quickly.

OK, so the midnight bells have rung and the ranking points updated. But the combined JK Day 2 + Day 3 scores still feature.
Has anyone contacted BOF?

Is the ranking list worth all the effort that's needed to maintain it ? What is it actually used for.

Agree with this, it's not worth much now in its current form

Re: Tesco 3 for 2
The ranking list may not be (in fact it can never be) perfect, but my impression is that many people follow their ranking scores with interest.
It is used to identify the seeded runners to create start lists for major events. It is used by my club (and I suspect others) for the annual club awards for each age class.
I think it is a valuable service that BO provides for its members.
However, I agree that obvious errors such as the combined JK Days 2 and 3 results need correcting quickly.
