There are some fantastic pictures, and a great advert for the sport.

These are absolutely brilliant! Was everyone given happy pills at the start? I've never seen so much obvious enjoyment at an o event, and so well captured

I've just been reading the Organiser's comments for Day 3 and noticed that Cagoules were made compulsory on this day. As it happens, we made the sensible decision to wear them anyway, but I was wondering where the signs were for this? There were four of us in our car and none of us saw any signage regarding this. There were none at the gate into the area, the parking chap didnt mention it, none on the route to the start and none at the Start. Just relieved we didnt have a 2.5km walk back the to car! That would have spoilt a great weekend!

There was a sign just on the right as you went through the gate which signaled the start of parking. It was an A4-size piece of paper. We saw it as were looking out for it (expected to carry cags) but can see how it was easily missed. Didn't encounter any parking officials so can't comment on whether they were mentioning it.

We arrived about 10 and were in the queue to park and saw someone walking back down the line with a sign. He was making sure someone in each car saw him.

Can BOF buy a (new?) set of podiums, the home made ones with numbers stuck on look a bit, home made, probably not what you want at the bottom of pictures that could be sent to press, potential sponsors etc.

I've just been reading the Organiser's comments for Day 3 and noticed that Cagoules were made compulsory on this day. As it happens, we made the sensible decision to wear them anyway, but I was wondering where the signs were for this?

We were there about 10.30. I saw about half a dozen signs in total in the arena, outside the marquee and on the way to the start. The final details made it clear that in adverse conditions, cags would be compulsory, and I can't see how it could have been regarded as otherwise. Given the conditions, I wouldn't have considered starting without one, and anybody who intended to needed their head examining!

We never went through the event arena, so missed any signs that might have been displayed. We parked a couple hundred metres inside the gate and walked straight to the Start.
Common sense seemed to prevail for those of us who missed the signs, realising that if we got injured we would cool down very quickly.

We arrived very early in order to collect relay bibs at 8:30 and had early starts. I deliberately asked enquiries about whether cagoules were compulsory and was told 'no'. Then on our walk to the start at about 10 ish were told by someone that the parking marshals were telling everyone to pass on the message that cagoules were now compulsory.
However there were no signs to that effect at the start, no mention of it from the start officials, and several people did start without one. In fact only about half the orienteers even got a whistle check.
Due to the difficulties of communicating with so many people over such a large area I think that the decision should have been made by 8 am when the first competitors start to arrive..The only sign I ever saw was outside the marquee on my walk back from download. Several people would not have gone to the arena especially there was advice not to in the final details. I certainly saw loads of orienteers who were neither carrying nor wearing cagoules whilst on my run.
Surely if cagoules had been made compulsory then the start officials should not have allowed anyone to start without one. All I can assume is that the start officials never got the message either. An early decision was vital!

Lets hope they are then, and the rules are enforced - as I doubt anyone will own up. Either say they are compulsory and enforce it, or dont bother.

Disqualifying people from pictures is ridiculous. Here is the picture of me on day 3. On the basis of that picture I reckon I look like I should be disqualified.

I ran with a (fully waterproof and taped seams) jacket, whistle, gel and spare compass in a bum bag. This was checked at the start. I don't know what the situation was at the other starts but at the elite start everyone was checked for this and a whistle (and no GPS).
