Was on early so only caught last 3 mins but the interviewer obviously hadn't done his homework. Well done to Kris tho for his result and for trying so hard to give a fair picture of O.

RS,
can you delete the above post please, it is difficult enough to get media coverage without presenters thinking they are going to be abused after the event.

Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: JK 2014
Great day 1 Sprint event I thought, well done SBOC! The area wasn't technically difficult, but my course (4) made good use of it, switching from urban to park/garden terrain several times. Coupled with nice weather and a great arena/event centre, it was an enjoyable start to the weekend.

Seemed to be reasonable food choices today. Had a nice pork, stuffing and apple burger.

Re: JK 2014
Once again, a great day at the JK. Good weather, albeit cool. I had a good course and it's not everyday you beat a previous world champion is it ?
Anyway, here are some photos from today.

Weather is looking a bit interesting over parts of Wales at the moment - heavy rain and thunderstorms

... but when is a single trader not a single trader ?
It looked to me as if there was one "Taste of Wales" van and 4 others from different companies judging by the branding on the vehicles - unless ToW have multiple different trading names ?
I interpreted "single trader" as meaning a single company were providing all the food, but it looks as if it may have meant "single person for BOF to negiotiate with".
I am guessing ToW then subcontracted to provide the necessary capacity, but I am left wondering whether this was known in advance and whether it was mentioned in any way in the contract.
Can't comment on the food quality as I abstained, but did notice 4 vans had coffee at £1.50 and the other at £2.00. Also can't comment on whether there was any difference in brand or quality.
P.S. as far as the orienteering goes, a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Well done and thanks to all involved in making it happen.

Thanks for the two links (so far) Crawford. I've now added them to the Photos page on the JK website (http://www.thejk.org.uk/jk2014/index.php?pg=233) along with a link to photos taken by the Day 2 planner.
I'd be happy to add links to any other image dumps from the JK too - either by copying links posted on nopesport or via PM.

Re: JK 2014
I didn't buy any drinks as I filled a flask and made my own but one van was selling coffee including espresso for £3. Ouch.
I bought a baked potato two days and although pricey at £4.50 for two fillings the quality was good and it was a very good size portion. There were however five people in the van, no queue and I still seemed to take ages to get served. It seemed like they didn't quite know what they were doing. Not like the fast conveyor belt type service we have seen before.
I also bought some donuts one day. At 6 for £4 they were more expensive than the donut man that comes to the Scottish 6 day. They were also much smaller. What really horrified me however was that instead of dipping them In sugar and putting them in a bag they were put in a bag and a massive amount of sugar was poured into the bag. After the donuts were eaten I still had a bag full of sugar.
I didn't have a toastie but thought they looked expensive at £4 for something not very big. They also seemed very disorganised at taking orders and people were getting incorrect orders. It seemed they weren't used to a lot of people wanting food at one time and more used to a steady flow of people which would make sense if they are used to more spectator events and festivals.
So, in conclusion. I would say it was a bit hit and miss and more miss than hit. More expensive than we are used to quality not as high in some cases and not really the range of food that runners are always looking for.

We took our own food and drinks. Just had an ice cream today! Decided to boycott them in protest at the way the usual traders had been treated.

Great relay today at Pwll Ddu. Good courses on quite different terrain from previous 2 days, and the sun shone.
Here are some photos, I'm sure there will be more, from Wendles at least.

Oops. It is of course Pwll Du; what a muppet.
I'll not change the album as the links will be wrong.
