Full Leg Cover (JK specific)

I notice JK final details say 'full leg and torso cover' on days 2, 3 and 4.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but aren't all these days on fully open fellside? How rigorously will full leg cover be enforced?

BOF Rule 10.1 Competitors must wear clothing that fully covers their torso and legs unless the Organiser has stated otherwise and has permitted shorts to be worn. Competitors not complying with the full leg and torso cover requirements may be prevented from taking part.

So, I guess it's possible that, given fine weather, the Organiser may permit shorts.

But there's a bit of a difference between South Wales moorland and Portugal ... the current forecast for Merthyr Common predicts a maximum temperature of 12C (feels like 10C) this Saturday and most runners will experience below 10C. Portugal was, I guess, a tad warmer ...

aye at 500m-odd above sea level I imagine it might be a bit cooler. I suppose there's always someone daft enough to get a jumped-up sense of their ability and wear inappropriate clothing - although this may be more prevalent in Fell Running! [speaking as a fell runner]

Remember it well. Was soaked to the skin. After driving home we went to an open air Last Night of the Proms concert, and by then the rain had reached Hampshire! Shame my brolly had a leak at the top

Dont you mean hypothermia Mrs H? They got that wrong in Compassport this issue too!

Well I', certain that I ran on Clydach Terrace in shorts - a far longer course than the JK and I don't remember getting cold. Indeed I ran the whole week (excepting the forest day in shorts and it really feels nice). I cannot see why there should be any insistence on leg cover unless the weather on teh day deems it so, but I'm not going to create a fuss about it as I', sure the organisers have far more important things on their minds.

I'm rather amused by strongly recommending whistles for thousands running round a University campus I guess its all a part of our crazy H&S culture.

I think I would be sticking with the full leg cover. If not gorse or brambles, I should think the mild winter has meant an early start for ticks (our cat has had several already this year), to say nothing of crocodiles...

it doesn't actually matter what you or I think about what we should wear. If the RO says we wear long bottoms we wear long bottoms and look happy about it. We won't be facing the coroner when someone dies from hypothermia.
