OK guys, I am going to shutdown Nopesport in 30 days. Please get yourselves together if you want to organise a takeover.

Bravo - Rav. You are the natural choice (sorry I meant to get back to you but I have to build a house to live in in the next fortnight).

Re: Nopesport for sale
While losing nope will be sad, I think it'll be best in the long run unless there's an enthusiastic group of people with the full set of skills want to take it on, without that set of people I don't think it's worth considering setting up a group to buy it.
The original crowd who set up nopesport had, between them, virtually every skill you'd need to run a successful online orienteering community and they did. Over the last few years those people have steadily stopped being involved as much as they used to, mostly due to busy lives I think, not students any more...
A word of warning to anyone looking to be the 'next Nopesport' (ravinous?), don't just set up a phpbb (other software is available) install and expect everyone to immediately start using it or for it to even get close to what nopesport is/was. What I think the UK O community needs is a current up to date news site, which also has some form of discussion alongside. Even if it just posts national team selections it'd be a step ahead of bof and get more readers. http://urbanorienteering.wordpress.com/ is a step in the right direction news wise...

My aim is to provide information, news, comment, articles about Urban and Sprint Orienteering, mainly through the E-Newsletter, but also larger chucks of "stuff" through the Wordpress site, maybe not ideal, I know!
Please, please, please - ANY Urban or Sprint copy is very much appreciated - particularly event flyers and reports. I also use Twitter which is a surprisingly good source @urbanracinguk and a Facebook page (a little less convinced about that!). Any copy (Urban and Sprint only!) to
Urbanracinguk(at)btinternet(dot)com
Cheers
Brian.

The sport owes the nope cartel an enormous debt - I hope someone has nominated them for the BO award for services to orienteering (Silva?). They have revolutionised communication within the sport - an aspect which has been sadly neglected by other quarters.

Indeed. Much more than you might think. Although (I believe) BO employees are forbidden to post it doesn't mean they aren't reading and acting on what's here. The same goes for committees. It's essential for any organisation to have a dissenting forum.
Thanks
