I am a trustee of the John Taylor Foundation. In the past we have given grants to young orienteers who have financial needs. I am aware that there is significantly more self-funding these days and perhaps our Foundation can help.
Each application is based on its own merits.
Please look at the website for more information. I'm afraid it is wildly out of date (like the Project2015 website but much worse), but we are still giving grants.
Feel free to PM me if you like, or check out...

Re: John Taylor Foundation
Sounds interesting, but does not give any idea of the age limit.

Re: John Taylor Foundation
Cannot get website on phone, would you give funding to a junior school pupil who has been selected to represent GB in croatia in a martial arts competition, and has got to fund it entirely himself.

Re: John Taylor Foundation
The Foundation supports running athletes, so probably not martial arts.

Re: John Taylor Foundation
(OLD BLOKE RAMBLING ALERT)
The website lists some of John's achievements. One that isn't there and has some resonance for orienteers is the 1992 "Two Breweries" race, an 18-mile classic typically dominated by orienteers. John hauled the leading group away to the final, brutal climb at Trahenna. When I got there the whole leading pack was laid out on the hill, in various stages of disarray. I discovered that crawling up the hill on all fours was enough to pass the people John had destroyed, who were lying in the heather groaning. Happy days.
At about the same time, several prominent Swedish orienteers died of cardiomyopathy. Until I saw this, I'd no idea that had happened to John too.
John's two breweries record still survives, despite the attentions of rocky and scotia. Come and have a go if...
