So I've found this app on my new phone called Turf - Outdoor Addiction
http://turfgame.com/
Its definitely been fulfilling my need for Urban competitiveness and its proving to be decent training when I move the checkpoints onto O-maps and use that to train with while logging the Turf points and moving up the regional and national Turf leagues.
The next round starts in Feb and it would be good to have some more UK competition as at present its just like O and is dominated by the Scandinavians.

Re: New Urban Training App
So I thought I'd give it a go. First impressions are that this might be the answer to getting the kids out for a walk in town (as geocaching is for the countryside!)
Managed to pick up two zones in parks on the way to the shopping centre with the kids. Also missed two as the GPS on the phone seemed not to be picking up where we were. This was compensated for by inadvertently picking one of these up on the way back while stopped in the car at a set of lights!
No idea about the leagues yet. Will need to look at the instructions again.
