Hi, Does anyone know whether I need a proper headtorch or just a petzl for Friday's race? i.e. how well lit is it.

Re: Big Weekend
I think that the Petzl will be sufficient.
There is a lot of light from the buildings so the head torch is really to read the map.
EUOC please correct me if I am wrong.

there are some fairly dark bits at KB so if you have one and have space I'd suggest taking a decent head torch. you would get by with a petzl if you can struggle through the odd dark section!

Provisional results are now posted here where you will also find results for the rest of the weekend after, and possibly during, the races.

Re: Big Weekend
Well Sunday provided wind as well as rain. I was "fortunate" enough to have early starts both days, so got the maximum money's worth of wind and rain. I was having to walk backwards at one point on the top, as the horizontal rain was making it impossible to keep my eyes open going into it. But what a feeling of satisfaction when you get to the end and also find you didn't miss any score controls. It reminded me of last years SOL at Ardchattan.

Really enjoyed the City race on Saturday. I wondered what sort of distance people actually ran on the Men's Open, I ran a long way, around 11.5km. That's too far isn't it? Thanks to EUOC, worth the journey up from the South West, loved the night as well thinking we might have one on the Plymouth Campus.

Re: Big Weekend
Well done to everyone in EUOC for all they did to put on such a successful weekend in far from ideal conditions, and still to be cheerful at the end of Sunday afternoon. The organising was impeccable, the courses challenging, the ceilidh fun.
Running in Saturday's rain may have added a challenge for competitors, but minding controls for several hours in the rain could not have been a lot of fun. Trying and failing to pitch a tent on Sunday morning in the worst of the weather, and having to re-organise to run everything, including pre-start and map issue, from cars involved extra effort.
Thank you to all.

Re: Big Weekend
rather belatedly, thanks to all at EUOC for a great weekend - I managed to find some new ways to stuff up, but missed the worst of the weather - huge appreciation to all those officials and helpers who were standing around in it, hope you've all warmed up by now
