Nothing for 3 days. Has Nopesport died?
Well done to Ed Catmur for his victory in the Tour de Helvellyn at the weekend, 38 miles of Lakeland trails with some fairly significant climbs in a little under 6 hours.
I might go to LOCs score event at the Helm on Monday. The rest of the week I will be bounding across the Howgills. Slowly.
Anybody got anything more exciting planned?

Re: Tumbleweed
Coincidentally my plans are very similar to yours Frostbite
There could also be some activities involving running/navigating and drinking on the 31st as well

Just the usual "Drag the family" up Dumyat on Christmas morning. Nothing like horizontal sleet and rain to prepare you for that once-a-year feast that undoes all the good training you've done all year.
Forth Valley Orienteers will see about 20 folk at the top at about 11:45am.
Happy Christmas to all.

Spent yesterday on a journey involving two cars, a tube train and five trains, I've been building a bike this afternoon. If the pattern of previous years is repeated I will spend tomorrow afternoon repairing the same bike

Trent Park, Outwoods, Lyme Park and Delamere.
I'd prefer the Lakes terrain, but living relatives are farther south. The only known ones in the Lakes are in Kendal churchyard.

P.S. a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all NOPErs.
May all your runs be clean and all your mistakes be small ones.

I was beginning to worry that I had broken Nopesport.
A grand festivity to all.

Gross, for a real urban challenge you need to come to Guildford.

The normally complex multi-level route choices around the river (bridges, towpath, subways and doubling back staircases)
now has slow moving (trapped 2m above the river) and fast moving flood water just 20cm below the record level
. The controller
insists the traditional Christmas Day night event should go ahead as usual with compulsory life jackets. No start if you forget your whistle and flare.

Re: Tumbleweed
I also enjoyed Tour de Helvellyn and add congratulations to all who competed, whether they finished or not - as a marshal, I saw many at very close contact at a support point and at end (including some bare flesh of the very cold who needed help changing out of wet clothes).
Back in Airienteers land, wondered if Post Hill has been considered for orienteering? Not sure who owns land, but seeing motorbike trials today (and seeing list of monthly trials), orienteers' feet would surely have less inpact.
Looking forward to competing at EBOR Skipwith Common this weekend and marshalling at second Dark Mountains 25th / 26th Jan. SYO Treeton Woods night event is also a possibilty, using Silva headtorch earned at MDM last year.

'tis on the hit list for mapping, but some way down the list of mapping priorities. Really only usable for our spring and summer sprint series - though quite a physical area.
