I didn't know Tom personally, but was aware of him. It is tragic to die so young and it must be devastating for his parents.

Desperately sad news. Tom was a well known face in Scottish orienteering and as Eddie says even if you didn't know him personally you were aware of him and of his talent. Thoughts with his family and clubmates.
