Just had my Forerunner 205 nicked, (along with the rest of our luggage) in Portugal. Will never dare leave the country or anything in a car again.
I see it's been superceded although the 210 lacks many of the 205s features and the next one up has features I don't really need.
I have a tendency to like what I'm used to though (I still don't like touch screens and am replacing my keyboard kindle with another keyboard kindle even though they're no longer making them).
What do people think of the new ones? Anyone tried a current model and like it or should I go for a new 205 on ebay?

Re: GPS watches again
I have been using the FR 410 for about 18 months now. It's spot on for running, and orienteering. Quick to pick up satellite, you can get with or without the HR strap. Amazon often have it on sale for about £140, you just have to keep checking and be patient.
I really like it, I wear it daily as it serves as a normal watch with GPS turned off (unlike the 205 or 305) and it's the size of a normal watch (also unlike the 205 or 305).

Been thinking of getting one myself. A good, if rather lengthy, review of the FR 410 here -

It was his rather "in-depth" review that pushed me towards it in the end.

The update to the 205/210 looks pretty swanky. Christmas is coming...

Re: GPS watches again
I've had the Garmin Forerunner 405 since July 2008 so it's now earned it's keep and it's time to move on! It has been a loyal and faithful servant during this time but it really is starting to coming to the end of it's useful working life! Lots of good, positive features about the watch and one or two tiny niggles that just stop it being "perfect". The Forerunner 410 is the updated version, and I'd probably be going for this IF the 220 wasn't due out in the next couple of weeks.
Why am I so taken with the 220?
Pre-loading of satellite positions for next 7 days should mean getting a GPS signal within 10-15 seconds, it's not confirmed (by Garmin), but it MAY also utilise the Russian GPS satellites as well as the American satellites giving you a stronger (and more reliable) signal?
The time between finding satellites and being able to wait to run has been extended so the watch shouldn't "go to sleep" if you find yourself hanging around pre-start waiting to run.
The watch supports 1-second recording interval, this gives a more accurate trace of your run and it has an internal accelerometer (I.A.), if you lose signal (in a tunnel for instance) the watch still records your distance run (as if you were wearing a footpod) switching automatically between GPS and I.A. as appropriate (I assume GPS signal takes priority).
Still unsure? GO HERE!

Re: GPS watches again
The faces on most of these are a bit small for me. I also use it for cycling and geocaching (although not doing as much of that now Duncan's bigger). I liked the large square face of the 205 so may go for the 310 although I don't need half the features so may go for another 205 on ebay, although i feel I should update it, maybe not if i don't need the updates.
I want to stay with Garmin as I've got the hang of the Garmin connect website.
