If I had seen any headcams then I'd have asked you to remove them. I saw cameras, but I asked them to remain outside the RAL entrance and not go in.

Once the relevant people have seen them then I suspect it'll be OK, but best to be on the safe side. (You suspect incorrectly)

I did indeed, but that is why on the safe side I asked you if you would remove them from Youtube early Sunday morning.

I believe all of those are taken from outside the secure area, but I will check. There were photographers there on the day and I asked them to remain outside and as far as I can tell they did.

Anyway, for the final time can I ask you to remove them.

In my opinion the maps made of both Daresbury and Rutherford Appleton Laboratory have provided some quality orienteering in the events held there. The DEE and TVOC guys have spent many hours producing the maps and almost everyone I have spoken to has praised the courses. It shouldn't take a genius to work out the stick that myself and the RAL site manager will get if these videos remain.

So is the loss of two decent urban areas and hassle at work for the members of staff at work really worth your belief that you should be allowed to film without permission on private/government property and then publish it.

BTW I am at a loss to see why I have to keep asking and asking?

I fully agree: this video should be removed until retrospective authority to make it freely available has been agreed, regardless of whether you should have been advised not to take the video or publish it. Why is such a straightforward, politely put and reasonable request being ignored? Everyone will draw their own conclusions

I enjoyed my runs at the DEE events in Daresbury, but injury unfortunately kept me away from Rutherford labs. And I've also enjoyed viewing some of noomember's other headcam videos.

However, as a fan of urban and sprint O, I agree with what JK, Mikey and Oldman are saying. Enough's enough.

Whatever point you may have been trying to make is now lost behind extreme unreasonableness and deliberate putting of hard-working orienteers into embarrassing positions.

Just take these things down, and consider saying what you have to say in some other way that might get a better hearing.

Jeez - does noomember really not understand that irrespective of whatever civil liberties he might think he has to film on private property on which he has been given special permission to be in (but not to film in) and to publish said video, that his actions are causing harm to the sport he appears to enjoy partaking in?

We could have a long debate about the rights and wrongs of filming, what exactly the security arrangements are, who's fault it is that he wasn't told in advance not to film etc. (FWIW I reckon he's in the wrong on a lot of the points he claims to be right on). However that is the fundamental point here - you're not exactly winning yourself any friends by your actions which are likely to (and possibly have already) result in future events not being held. Do you think you're somehow showing how clever you are, or "getting one over on the man" by being so stubborn?

Just a thought ... would an organiser of an O event be within their rights if they refused an entry from someone with a proven track record of making life impossible for officials ?

I doubt there is any obligation on an organisor to accept an entry from anybody (excluding obvious issues of breaking laws on discrimination - but I don't suppose that would be an issue in the circumstance you're presumably alluding to).

The Organiser has the right to refuse any entry, as I did at the BNC last year. Of people concerned one accepted the decision happily, the other queried it. I did not change my mind.

I suggest that the person behind these videos takes them down (if he hasn't done so already) in order to avoid both putting future events in jeopardy and causing further unnecessary work for JK and other hard-working volunteers.

In future a controller will probably mention if it's OK to headcam a race or not in the final details - courtesy of this thread! With all the faff involved to actually get the event on, the link between 'some people headcam stuff' and 'running around private and potentially sensitive property' was missed.

For the sake of a volunteer's peace of mind more than anything else, please remove the video.
