Re: BOK Blast
Yes it is probably a tad early, but at the same time the organisers probably want to go on holiday or something in August. Just guessing.

Whilst staying in Bristol, or on your course, look out for the 'Gromits' (of Wallace and Gromit fame), dozens of 5foot statues around the town and surrounding area - would make good control points. More info:

Re: BOK Blast
Just got back from a superb weekend in Bristol. From a course 3/C point of view, both days were excellent fun.
Very well done to both planners and their controllers. Quite a few highly tricksy legs in each of the 3, very different, races, and total concentration required from start to finish.
One nice touch was that each map carried the names of planner/organiser/controller as well as the BOF Event number. First time I'd seen that, and I think an example I would like my own club to follow.

Superb weekend. Need to learn to read control descriptions more carefully. 10 minutes wasted at 13 today - ooops

Re: BOK Blast
If you read the comments there were 'opportunities' for entering unauthorised selected buildings and/ or crossing an uncrossable wall via unmapped steps. Transgressors have until tuesday to declare themselves. Oh the joys of urbans!

Many thanks for all the positive comments today, it definitely makes all the hard work worthwhile.
I would be interested in seeing the different routes people took so please put them up on Routegadget which is now up

42 found after the event yesterday and a couple of hours on Saturday!A score event with a difference. We saw hundreds of families ( and adults like us without any children or grandchildren in tow
) A great idea that really caught the imagination.

Re: BOK Blast
The legs around the northern part of the University of Bristol campus in the Sunday event were particularly devilish (Priory Road / Woodland Road). Former houses giving access into what were once back gardens and now a labyrinth of steps, raised walkways and dead ends. Superb. Elsewhere a greater degree of climb than at most urban events forced interesting over/round route choices. Once of the best urbans I've been to.
I also enjoyed my runs around the Frenchay Campus. Interesting to compare splits with somebody with a similar time and found that despite his errors on the leg with route choice through the building the time gained by going through was very little, possibly due to being forced to wait for automatic doors to open. Next time I'll go round.
